Pathway 3
If you have been told that you are on pathway three, this information is specifically for you.
Following pathway three will provide you with an engaging, practical and inspiring experience for key stage four.
In addition to the standard curriculum of maths, English and science, you will receive additional English and maths lessons, personal development sessions and follow really useful and valuable subjects such as The King’s Trust qualification, Food and Cookery, IT, Creative Construction Skills and Land Based Studies which we call 'Foundation Learning'. These subjects will develop your skills in reading, writing, presenting and communicating, as well as key skills such as working with others and problem solving.
Foundation Learning
On top of the core curriculum, we also want to ensure that you leave Fernwood with a broad suite of qualifications which show your skills and talents. To achieve this, we will be providing you with a further 5 smaller qualifications.
- The King’s Trust Award (this was previously called the Prince’s Trust)
- Level 1 ICT (Computing Skills)
- Level 1 Food & Cookery
- Level 1 Construction (Practical Skills)
- Level 1 Land Based Studies (Animal Science)
Your Option Choice
Along with the core curriculum and foundation curriculum, the remainder of your timetable will then be made up of your ‘option choice’. You will be asked to nominate one subject, and then a reserve choice.
